The Great World Race is the most exciting new event on the international running calendar.
Over seven days from October 22nd-28th 2024, competitors have an opportunity to complete a lifetime goal
of running a marathon on each of the 7 continents, starting at the end of the world in Antarctica.
The competitors will travel by charter plane with the Global Marathon Club ™ and will
complete a marathon on all 7 continents in 7 days.
On October 22nd, 2024 Rob Thomas will attempt to complete this extraordinary challenge.
As an Air Force Veteran and a competitive long distance runner Rob uses running to keep his mind sharp and his body healthy. He has used running to help him to overcome the challenges he faced during his career in the military.
Rob began running in college when he joined the team at Wayland Baptist University, he then went on to run for team USA in the Air Force, and he has continued his long-distance running to maintain his personal health and wellness. Like many other Veterans who face the residual challenges of everyday life after service, Rob has found running to be the one constant in his life that gives him the strength to face life head on with purpose and intention.
His motto has always been, "When it gets hard just run faster."
"Running is all I know and I'm grateful for the power it gives me to maintain a healthy body and a healthy mind," said Mr. Thomas. "Each new running challenge gives me a purpose, and as of today I've completed 98 marathons, finished the 50 states marathon challenge, I placed in the top 3 of a 100 miler which garnered me the coveted 100 miler belt buckle, I guess now all I have left to conquer is the 7 continents, which has been a lifelong dream."
Rob will be running to raise awareness for MISSION 22 a national veteran non-profit that provides support to Veterans and their families when they need it most.
For success, there must be unity of effort with a focus on excellence.

To compete in such an extraordinary event not only takes a village of supporters and thousands of hours of training, but it also requires a group of dedicated individuals who support his effort and the financial backing of those who want to see him complete the challenge of the Great World Race.
As with any great challenge, it takes a team to make the dream come true.
